Seminar on Wavefront Sensors by Dr. Walter Torres

As part of the UPC Master's in Photonics hashtag#MasterPhotonicsBCN (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)) and hashtag#Europhotonics (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree), Dr. Walter Torres, from the University of Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia) will present a seminar on recent advances in improving the performance of traditional wavefront sensors, such as the Hartmann-Shack sensor, applied to vision sciences. The session will include a detailed description of the basic operating principle of these sensors, as well as the use of active optical elements, such as electro-optical lenses and spatial light modulators, to create reconfigurable Hartmann-Shack sensors, plus the feasibility of implementing convolutional neural networks.

The seminar is divided into a theoretical introduction (1h30) and a second practical block (1h30) (for the latter bring a laptop). Feel free to attend the entire seminar, or if you have time constraints, just one of the parts.
